The Sängerchor German men's choir was founded in Newark, NJ October 1925 by a group of ten men motivated to preserve the tradition of "männer gesang verein" singing the songs and music of the "Old Country". Their efforts led to great success and by 1950 the chorus had over 100 active members.
Good beer and camaraderie makes singing enjoyable and fun. Singing in a German men's choir heightens the experience many times over. Belonging to Sängerchor Newark, engenders camaraderie, geniality and friendliness. We are dedicated to fostering the love of singing, contributing to the wellbeing of the wider community and the cultivation of German heritage.
If you want the benefits of singing and great camaraderie, join us Friday nights at the Deutscher Club located in Clark NJ. Our music director Markus Kaitila, has a Masters in Music Performance Piano from NYU. We select good music and sing it well under his professional direction. We sing both German and American classics. Knowledge of German language is beneficial but it is not a requirement.
Join us Friday nights at the Deutscher Club!
We get together Friday nights at 8:00 PM. Share a beer and sandwich with us and get to know the men of Sängerchor Newark.
